A GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. EMMANUEL EWETA UDUAGHAN, GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE, ON THE OCCASION OF 2008 EID EL- FITRI CELEBRATION IN DELTA STATE. Beloved Deltans, On behalf of my family, government and the people of Delta State, I felicitate with Deltans, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters on this happy occasion of the 2008 Eid-el-Fitri festival. 2. In the last couple of weeks, Muslims the world over have subjected themselves to a period of self-denial, penitence, meditation and thorough spiritual purification. Beyond the festivities of this moment, I urge all Muslims and indeed all Deltans, to use this period for sober reflection, spiritual renewal and promotion of the enduring lessons of love, forgiveness and peaceful co-existence, which constitute the true essence of all religious doctrines. 3. As we join millions
of Muslims around the world to celebrate EidelFitri, I enjoin
all adherents of the Islamic faith and other religious groups to accept
the task of being advocates of peace, unity and brotherhood in our dear
country. I also commend our Muslim brothers and sisters in the State for
their continued harmonious co-existence with other religious faithfuls.
4. I, therefore, implore all our political and religious leaders including their followers to show more commitment, sincerity and sensitivity for the welfare of our brothers and sisters in all their actions and decisions. 5. I reassure all Deltans of the commitment of the State Government to good governance and sustenance of our philosophy of equity, justice and fair-play. However, I admonish all community leaders and youths to continue on the path of peace and security with a view to encouraging and sustaining the manifestation of our development programmes in the State. 6. Once again, I send my most sincere felicitations to Muslim faithfuls and Deltans on this joyous occasion of the celebration of the Eid-el-Fitri. May Allah guide, bless and rekindle in us, the spirit of oneness, love and tolerance towards our neighbours, State and nation. Barka de -
Sallah Dr. Emmanuel Eweta
