Benin-Asaba Expressway, Critical Infrastructure That Must Be Maintained Says Oborevwori
The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has described the Benin-Asaba Highway as a critical infrastructure that connects Eastern and Western regions of Nigeria and should be maintained always
The Governor made the description on Sunday at the flag off of the construction of Benin-Asaba Highway project. He was represented at the event by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.
“This 125km express way is critical infrastructure that connects the Eastern and Western regions of our country, as such, it should be maintained.
“This partnership will not only improve the safety and efficiency of travel, but also unlock the economic potentials of the region, expectedly, this project will generate significant economic benefits, including job creation and increase trade and general standard of living of our people,” the governor said.
He continued, “as we flag off this project, I urged all participants and stakeholders to work together to ensure the successful completion of this project within the stipulated time frame.
“Let us all work together to build a modern and safe transportation system that will drive the economic growth of our region.
“On behalf of the government and the good people of Delta State, I express our profound gratitude to the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Amed Tinubu for this noble initiative.
“To the Federal Ministry of Works, I express my appreciation to you for your efforts in promoting Private Public Partnership, (PPP), .in infrastructural development; I hope that this project will be completed within the scheduled time.”
The Governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo described the project as a “legacy project.”
The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, in his remarks said that the construction of the 125Km Benin – Asaba Expressway would be constructed through Private Public Partnership agreement.
He noted that President Bola Tinubu was desirous to see that all the major roads in the country are in good shape.
The Minister disclosed that the road would be constructed from Benin to the second Niger Bridge.
