Chief Dimaro Progress
Born on February 22, 1963, Chief Dimaro Progress hails from Torugbene community in Burutu LGA.
With early education at Zuokumor Primary School and Gbesa Grammar School, Ojobo, he attended Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode for his HSC, and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, for a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Administration.
A consummate grassroots politician with over three decades of experience in active politics in Delta State and Nigeria, in general, he has been a central figure in the politics of Burutu Local Government Area since the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998.
He has held different positions and undertaken several critical assignments in contribution to the party’s successes at various levels of political contests.
Reputed for being the pioneer chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Burutu Local Government Area from 1998 to 2001, he enjoys credit for laying the foundation of the indestructible structure the party enjoys at the local government level through his leadership.
In recognition of his passionate advocacy for a peaceful and united PDP family, he was unanimously nominated to serve as chairman of the Burutu Local Government; Chairman Aggrieved Members Reconciliation Committee, in 2015; and PDP Coordinator of Torugbene Ward 1 in the 2019 general elections in which the party recorded resounding victory.
He was a member and the motivating force of the Elders Council of the Burutu Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Campaign Organisation in 2023 and also a member of the 2023 Delta State PDP Volunteer Group.
Deeply entrenched in the state’s politics and well-experienced in human management, at different times, he has headed and piloted campaigns for Senatorial, House of Representatives, Local Government Chairmanship, and House of Assembly elections for the party.
Adept at problem-solving and creation of social networks, he has served as Executive Assistant to the Governor (Office of the Deputy Governor), June 2022-May 2023; Director, Delta State Arts and Culture Council, 2008 – 2009; and Director, Delta Waterways Limited, Warri, 2000 – 2001.
In the private sector, he worked as Executive Officer, Office of the Medical Director, Psychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Benin City, 1993 to 1996; Supervisor at Ocean Fishing, Port Harcourt, 1996 – 1998; and has remained passionate about Fish Farming and general Aquaculture with Aredepade Nigeria Fisheries since 2009.
