CHIEF SEN. (DR) IGHOYOTA AMORI JP Chief Adviser To The Governor Of Delta State

Chief Sen.(Dr) Ighoyota Amori was born on the 8th of August,1952.His father is a descendant of Ugbede family of Mosogar Kingdom and Mother from Idjerhe Kingdom both in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

He attended Evwonogbo Primary School,Mosogar between 1958-1963 and thereafter, proceeded to Academy Grammar School Sapele from 1967-1971,for his Secondary School Education.He obtained his first degree in Geology from the prestigious University of Benin in 1979 and Masters of Science degree in Geophysics from the University of Ibadan in 1981.and recently,P.hd in environmental geology from The university of Benin.
Due to Chief Sen.(Dr) Ighoyota Amori vibrancy as a student,he was elected as the Secretary General of the University of Benin Students Union Government (SUG) and Assistant Secretary, National Union of Nigeria Students both positions he held between 1976-1977.Although,Chief Amori left University of Benin several years ago,he has not lost touch with his erstwhile Development of Geology,where he recently contributed financially to some projects embarked upon by the department.

Being a young man,who was passionate in serving his people as a unionist,vibrant public affairs commentator,football lover and prolific writer,he joined main stream politics early in 1987,in which he contested and won election as a Councilor and later,was appointed as a supervisory Councilor for Education in Ethiope Local Government Area in the then Bendel State from 1987-1989.

He, being a diligent, reliable and hard-working young man,was further elected as Secretary,National Republican Convention (NRC) Ethiope Local Government Area.A position he served between 1990-1992, served as State Secretary,Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) between 1996-1998, and State Publicity Secretary,Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 1998-1999.

Chief (Dr)Amori worked briefly as General Manager of PAULOSA (NIG) LTD,Benin City before venturing into the world of business by establishing AMODRIL (A Water Bore Hole/Constructions outfit).

After the election of His Excellency Chief James Onanefe Ibori as the Executive Governor of Delta State,he was appointed as the Commissioner for Education in Delta State . A position he used to serve Deltans to the best of his ability and capacity between 1999-2003.

As a Commissioner for Education,he contributed significantly towards the upliftment of the educational sector in Delta State.He embarked on massive infrastructural development,in order to ensure a good teaching and learning environment in all schools.

Chief Sen. (Dr.)Amori- a geologist became a pragmatic Educational Planner and Administrator whose leadership in the ministry of Education contributed successfully in the renovation and fencing of Primary Schools in the state,mass recruitment of Secondary Schools teaching staff, establishment of model schools across the state, provision of computers in secondary schools,massive infrastructural development across all public schools in the Delta State University,Abraka permanent site and the campuses at Asaba and Oleh,were all product of the focus and purposeful leadership of Chief Sen. Dr Ighoyota Amori.

Also,he established French Language Centre in Asaba, procurement and supply of books and teaching aids, science laboratory equipment to all schools, provision of scholarship for learning oversea and payment of bursaries to Delta State students,were monumental achievements credited to the Solomonic wisdom of Chief Sen. (Dr) Ighoyota Amori JP.

Additionally,to further crown his laudable achievements and bring higher education closer to the people,his visionary leadership gave birth to the establishment of four tertiary institutions in the State, namely; Delta State Polytechnic Uzoro (Delta South),Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku (Delta North) and Delta State Polytechnic Otefe (Delta Central), and a Delta State College of Physical Education ,Mosogar (DESCOPEM) now College of Education Mosogar (Delta Central) to balance the distribution of Colleges of Education in Delta State.The first of his kind in the country,under the Chief James Onanefe Ibori administration and an impressive and remarkable feat,that can only be achieved by a man with a Big Heart like Chief Sen. (Dr)Amori.

As a public policy analyst,Chief Amori served as a Deputy-Chairman of the Core Group-a proactive political association that was instrumental in the re-election of His Excellency Chief James Onanefe Ibori for second-term in 2003 General Election.

To further address the huge challenge of getting good water for Deltans,Chief James Onanefe Ibori re appointed him as a Commissioner for Water Resources Development,where he brought to fore his vast knowledge as a geologist and an authority in the water works business.He broke the jinx of poor water supply in the state between 2006-2007 as he revived all moribund water schemes and successfully built new ones even in the most difficult terrains.

As a Political Adviser to the Governor and Government of Delta State between February 20,2004 and March 20,2006,Chief Sen. (Dr)Amori’s office was a MECCA in which various political entities and clans found solace in Government and got socio-political blessings from the government.Chief Amori also served as a Senior Political Adviser under the Dr. Emmanuel E. Uduaghan administration between 2011-2014.

At the National level, He was Special & Political Adviser to three National Chairmen of the PDP….(Sen Ali Modu Sheriff, Sen.Ahmed Makarfi, Prince Uche Secondus).
He was Secretary PDP National Campaign Council for Bayelsa Governorship election ( 1st tenure) & recent Member , National PDP Edo State Governorship Aspirant Screening Committee.
He is currently, Deputy National Organising Secretary of the PDP.

As a man who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of human society,he was conferred with various Chieftaincy titles;
1.Otota of Mosogar Kingdom
2.Orhovwegwugwe of Ughelli Kingdom
3.Ataneru of Abraka Kingdom
4.Otedje of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom
5.Adjerese of Okpe Kingdom
He is also fondly called the Odidimadi of Africa

In addition to the aforementioned titles,Chief Amori is also the Patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society- Delta State Chapter,a National Patron of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, National Chairman,Urhobo Political Forum (UPF)- an umbrella body for all Urhobo sons and daughters in active politics,National Chairman Delta Central 2023 code names DC-23 .

Chief Sen.( Dr)Ighoyota Amori JP was duely sworn-in as a Senator of the federal republic in the 8th Assembly and he distinguished himself within 7-months in the House before the unfortunate court removal.

His achievements within 7-months in SENATE:

1.He sponsored bill for an Act to Establish the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Ugbomro,Effurun(FUPRUE) and for other Matters connected thereto 2015 which was read the first time in the Senate on 30th September,2015.

2.He led the Senate into discussing the Demise of an illustrious son and father,a technocrat and adminstrator,Dn.Dr. Gamaliel Offontsenere Onosode OFR (1933-2015) on 6 October,2015.Through the prayers,the Senate sent a delegation headed by Sen.Prof. Olusola Adeyeye.

3.He co-sponsored several motions in the Senate amongst which is a motion on the Demise of Olu of Warri.

4. Empowered more than 100 constituents through recommendation letters to various institutions both in Delta State and all over the Federation for job placement internship and school admission.Many have been admitted to read various courses in their desired schools and others have been employed.

5.He was Senate Ad-hoc committee member on Power,Steel Development and Metallurgy to probe the Power Sector Since 1999-2015.His plan was to resuscitate Delta Steel Company Aladja in Udu Local Government.

Chief Sen. (Dr)Ighoyota Amori is happily married to Chief Gloria Amori and they are blessed with five adorable children.
