Chief (Dr.) Barry Pere Gbe (JP)

Born on May 15, 1970, from Akugbene, Bomadi LGA, Barry Gbe is the immediate past Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning.

He attended Olodi Primary School and College of Commerce, all in Warri and proceeded therefrom to acquire various higher educational qualifications in various fields and professions.

These include B.A. Linguistics; PGD, Public Administration; and MBA (General), from the University of Benin; Masters in Industrial/Labour Relations from the Delta State University, Abraka; MSc in Organizational Behaviour from the University of Lagos; MSc in Policy and Development Studies from Ambrose Alli University; and Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Leeds University, United Kingdom.

He has participated in such other top notch Executive Education programmes as Public Finance in a Complex World (Harvard, USA); Public Policy Analysis (London School of Economics); Leading Economic Growth (Harvard, USA); Leadership Training Programme (Wharton, USA); Corporate Strategy (MIT, USA); Budgeting in a time of Crisis (Harvard, USA); Executive Certificate in Public Policy (Harvard, USA); Negotiation & Decision Making (Harvard, USA); Strategies for Service Excellence (Lagos Business School); Executive Compensation (Lagos Business School); Pay-for-Performance – (KPMG); and Problem-Solving and Decision-Making (Lagos Business School), amongst others.

A member of the Chartered Management Institute, United Kingdom, Full Member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), among others, Dr. Gbe’s work history has seen him as Head, Support Services Fortune Bank PLC; Head, Consumer/Collection Banking Unit, First Inland Bank; Branch Manager, Fin Bank PIc; Branch Manager, FCMB PIc; and Managing Partner, Dominant Logic Consult.

In public service, he was Board Member, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Honorable Commissioner for Economic Planning, Delta State and Justice of the Peace.
