Hon. Shedrack Ekene Rapu

Hon. Shedrack Ekene Rapu, the Nwanze Obi Odogwu of Asaba, Oshimili South LGA, where he hails from, is reputedly a strong grassroots political mobiliser, community development activist and philanthropist.

Born on 26 October, 1969, he had his early education at Asagba Primary School and St Patrick’s College, Asaba, and enrolled for the National Business and Technical Examination, after which he proceeded to Akwa-Ibom Polytechnic, Ikot-Osurua, where he obtained his
National Diploma in Business Studies, 2005, Higher National Diploma in Business Administration, 2008, and is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Building Technology.

A builder by profession, he started his working life as Assistant Building Engineer at Elibujor Steel Construction Company Ltd and moved on to launch his personal businesses as Managing Director, Shedrapus Company Nig Ltd; Chief Executive Officer, Henryzak and Sons Company; Chairman, Ganihu and Associates; Chief Executive Officer, Giwa Associates, Nigeria; Managing Director, Mord Enterprises, Nigeria; and Chairman, Fuju and Abum Enterprises Nigeria Ltd.

A hard-core member of the PDP, he has served the party and the state in various capacities, and was especially active in contribution to the successes of the PDP at the local government, state and national levels, in several election circles.

He was elected Treasurer of Delta PDP, 2005-2007, and subsequently elected member of the Delta State House of Assembly, representing Oshimili South State Constituency, 2019-2023.

While in the state legislature, he was Chairman of the House Committee on Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency; Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Land, Survey and Urban Development; and member, Finance and Appropriation Committee.

He has attended various Advanced Leadership training programmes, including at the Churchill
College, University of Cambridge, UK, 2021, and the SOAS Executive Training on Advanced Leadership
and Communication, School of Finance and Management, University of London, 2022.
