DELTA STATE THE BIG HEART

Be passionately committed to your duties, Ahon urges Governor’s Press crew

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Mr. Festus Ahon has charged members of the governor’s press crew and staff in the press unit, Government House, Asaba, to be passionately committed to their duties.

Mr. Ahon who gave the charge on Tuesday at his maiden meeting with the governor’s press crew and members of staff in the press unit, held at the new Press Centre, Government House, Asaba, also, urged them to work as a team in promoting the activities of the state government.

He solicited the co-operation of everybody in the unit towards giving adequate publicity to the policies and programmes of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in the state.

According to him, everybody should collectively work together in our collective drive aimed at promoting the activities of the state government.

“As image makers, we should promote the activities of the state government and be passionately committed to our job,” Mr. Ahon said.

While urging them to live above board in the discharge of their duties, the CPS harped on the need for them to always dress smart.

“As journalists, we should always dress smart. Your dressing matters a lot. You will be addressed the way you dress. You don’t need expensive clothes before you dress clean,” he added.

Mr. Ahon assured the press crew members that the two new buses approved for the governor’s press crew would be available this week, adding that he would look into some of the issues raised by them, even as he said that the meeting between him and them would be held monthly.

Earlier, the Public Relations Officer in the Press Unit, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Mr. Kingsley Kwubosu who congratulated the new CPS on his appointment, assured him of the unalloyed support and cooperation of members of the governor’s press crew and staff in the press unit.

At the meeting, the attention of the CPS was drawn to some of the challenges facing staff in the press unit which included lack of sound operational vehicles and other basic necessity needed to enhance their operational efficiency.
